Drones

Drones equipped with cameras or multispectral sensors can capture images that are then stitched together to create detailed orthomosaics (georeferenced aerial images) and 3D models. This method is particularly useful for monitoring construction sites, assessing land use changes, conducting environmental studies, and more. Drones are cost-effective, versatile, and can cover areas that might be challenging to access on the ground.

Photogrammetry

Photogrammetry is the science of extracting precise measurements from photographs. In aerial surveying, it involves capturing overlapping aerial images from various angles and then using specialized software to analyze these images and create accurate 3D models. By identifying common features in the overlapping images and calculating the disparities between them, the software can triangulate the positions of points in 3D space. This method is particularly effective for generating digital elevation models (DEMs) and orthophotos, which are georeferenced images corrected for distortions caused by terrain and camera tilt.
